CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship – Game #6 Montmorency Bounces Host St. Clair from Medals. Montmorency defeats St. Clair by a score of 98-61.

Host St. Clair College was removed from medal contention at the CCAA Women’s Basketball Championship Friday after a 98-61 defeat at the hands of 3-time defending champion Montmorency (Laval, QC).

A competitive game saw the teams tied 21-21 with St. Clair making five triples in the opening frame while Montmorency doing the damage from short range.  Montmorency put it all together for an impressive 31-point second quarter and led 52-33 by the halftime break.

Not relenting in the third quarter the Nomades increased their lead 79-48 after three quarters putting the game out of reach.  Montmorency’s Juliette Gauthier (Rosmère, QC) led all scorers with 26 points to go with 7 rebounds and 4 assists to earn the Player of the Game Award.

St. Clair’s Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, ON) was Player of Game for the Saints and scored 17 points adding 5 rebounds.  Montmorency advances to the 10:00am Bronze Semi-final Saturday while St. Clair will play in 7th/8th Place Game against St. Mary’s at 2:00pm.
