CHEVROLET DETROIT GRAND PRIX PRESENTED BY LEAR LOOKING FOR 2017 EVENT VOLUNTEERS

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear relies on the support of approximately 1,000 volunteer members of the Detroit Grand Prix Association (DGPA), to help host one of Detroit’s most popular and positive summertime events.

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear returns to Belle Isle Park the weekend following Memorial Day, June 2-4, 2017. The three-day festival will feature world-class racing, music, food, family fun, interactive games, displays and more for the expected 100,000 fans that will visit the Raceway at Belle Isle Park over the course of the weekend. Event organizers report that more than 600 people have joined the Grand Prix’s official volunteer organization for 2017 but about 400 more community-minded individuals are needed to serve as ambassadors for the event that has become known for its premiere customer service and its friendly and helpful DGPA volunteers.

Those interested in becoming a member of the DGPA to volunteer for the 2017 Grand Prix should visit www.DetroitGP.com and select the “Volunteer” link.

“The event volunteers of the DGPA are second to none and they continue to be an integral part of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. From the moment that fans, competitors, partners and media members arrive on Belle Isle until the moment they leave, our volunteers are making sure they have the best experience possible and we can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work and support,” said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. “We are over halfway to our goal of recruiting over 1,000 DGPA members as ambassadors of our great region and this event and we’re excited to welcome back new and returning volunteers in 2017.”

Available volunteer assignments at the Grand Prix include Customer Relations, Circuit Marshalls, Ticket Scanners, On-Track Services, Ushers and more.

New for 2017, the DGPA is offering greater flexibility and reduced shift timelines for its registration requirements. New members can select between a one-day, two-day or three-day experience, although most departments are seeking volunteers who are available for one shift on both Saturday and Sunday. Returning volunteers will notice that most shift requirements have been reduced by at least one hour per day.

To join the DGPA and become a part of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, members will pay a $15 annual fee. Being a member of the DGPA definitely does have its advantages. Members will get an up close and personal experience at this year’s Grand Prix.  Additionally, the Grand Prix provides each volunteer an event credential, official volunteer uniform shirts, a cap, a lapel pin, free off-island parking and lunch every day during race weekend. Other great DGPA benefits include the volunteer Kickoff and Post Race parties, a membership patch, appreciation certificate and unique discounts and experiences associated with the Grand Prix and its partners.
