Detroit Lions vs Vikings by the Numbers

The following are from the Detroit Lions’ (6-5) 30-23 loss against the Minnesota Vikings (9-2) at Ford Field on Thursday, November 23, 2017.

BLOCKED KICKS
DT A’Shawn Robinson blocked a Vikings PAT attempt in the first quarter, marking the first PAT block of his career. He is the first Lions player to block a PAT since DE Jared DeVries registered a block at Minnesota October 8, 2006.

Robinson has now blocked both a PAT and field goal this season.

DT Jeremiah Ledbetter blocked the Vikings’ 53-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter, which was also the first blocked kick of his career.

With a blocked PAT and field goal, today marked the first time the Lions blocked two place kicks in the same game since blocking two field goals vs. Seattle September 10, 2006.

The Lions have now blocked two field goals and one PAT this season, which is the first time the team has recorded at least one blocked PAT and FG in the same season since 2004.

The Lions have not blocked a PAT and FG in the same game since at least 1991, according to Stats, Inc. data.

QB MATTHEW STAFFORD
Against Minnesota, QB Matthew Stafford completed 20-of-35 passes for 282 yards with two touchdowns (6, 43 yards).

With 282 passing yards in the game, Stafford surpassed QB Peyton Manning (33,189) for the most career passing yards before the age of 30. In 120 career games, Stafford has accumulated 33,345 yards. (Credit: Elias Sports Bureau)

Stafford has now thrown for 2,501 yards in eight Thanksgiving Day games. He passed Dallas QB Tony Romo (2,338) for the most career passing yards on Thanksgiving.

With 20 completions, Stafford now has 209 completions for his career on Thanksgiving as he joined QB Troy Aikman (211) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to complete 200+ passes in Thanksgiving Day games.

K MATT PRATER
K Matt Prater appeared in his 150th career game on Thanksgiving, finishing 3-for-3 with field goals of 32, 32 and 50 yards and connecting on two PATs.

Prater’s 50-yard field goal was his seventh this season. Along with his 7 field goals of 50+ yards in 2016, Prater now joins K Phil Dawson (7 in 2011 and 7 in 2012) as the only kickers in NFL history to make at least 7 50+-yard field goals in consecutive seasons.

Prater’s 7 50+-yard field goals tie for the second-highest single-season total in team history along with the seven he made last season.

Over the past two years, Prater has made a league-best 14 50+ -yard field goals.

Prater also surpassed K John Kasay (42, 1991-2011) for the third-most career 50+-yard field goals in NFL history.

WR MARVIN JONES JR.
WR Marvin Jones Jr. led the Lions with game highs in both receptions (6) and receiving yards (109). He scored on touchdown receptions of 6 and 43 yards.

He recorded his third 100-yard game this season (sixth-career), which marks a single-season career high. This was also the fourth time in his career he has registered 2+ receiving touchdowns in a game.

Jones scored on his NFL-best fifth receiving touchdown this season of 20+ yards. Entering 2017, Jones previously had five career touchdown receptions of 20+ yards. He now has 10 touchdown receptions of 20+ yards for his career.

WR KENNY GOLLADAY
With a 41-yard reception against the Vikings, WR Kenny Golladay recorded his fourth reception of 40+ yards this season, which leads all rookies in the NFL.

DE EZEKIEL ANSAH
With one sack against Minnesota, DE Ezekiel Ansah now has 7.5 sacks in four of his five career Thanksgiving Day games. He has the second-most sacks (official stat in 1982) by a player on Thanksgiving, trailing only Cowboys HOF DT Randy White.

Ansah also moved into sole possession for sixth on the Lions all-time sacks list with 37.0 by surpassing DT Ndamukong Suh (36.0).

LB TAHIR WHITEHEAD
LB Tahir Whitehead registered a single-game career high with 13 tackles (10 solo). This was the ninth time in his career he has recorded at least 10 tackles in a game. Whitehead is the first Lions player to record 13+ tackles in a game since LB Stephen Tulloch against the Bears on October 18, 2015.

LB PAUL WORRILOW
With six tackles against Minnesota, LB Paul Worrilow surpassed 400 total career tackles and now has 402.

DT A’SHAWN ROBINSON
DT A’Shawn Robinson recorded a single-game career high two tackles for loss.

LS DON MULHBACH
LS Don Mulbach played in his 14th Thanksgiving Day game and became the fourth player in team history to appear in at least 14 Thanksgiving games. Muhlbach tied Hall of Fame CB Dick LeBeau for the third-most games on Thanksgiving by a Lions player.

LB NICK BELLORE
With a team-high two special teams tackles against Minnesota, LB Nick Bellore registered multiple special teams tackles in a game for the 25th time in his career.

WR TJ JONES
With a 34-yard kickoff return in the first quarter, WR TJ Jones recorded the longest kick return of his career.
