DESCRIPTION:CELEBRITY HOCKEY COMES TO WINDSOR ESSEX FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL EASTER SEALS CELEBRITY HOCKEY CLASSIC\nOn Friday\, October 18\, hockey fans in the Windsor Essex area will have the opportunity to skate with NHL greats in the city’s second annual Celebrity Hockey Classic in support of Easter Seals Ontario. \nThe tournament kicks off the evening of Thursday\, October 17 with an unforgettable Sports Dinner\, where each team will select an NHL star to play on their team. Draft positions will be determined by the total dollars raised by each team. \nAfter an evening spent getting to know their celebrity teammate\, teams will hit the ice on Friday\, October 18 at the WFCU Centre. \nEach team must pay a registration fee of $1\,500 (non-refundable/non-receiptable) and fundraising to qualify to play in the tournament. \nThere will also be a “Family Skate with NHL Alumni” on tournament day at 4:30. Everyone is welcome and is by donation only. \nDonations can be made to the Easter Seals Ambassadors team or at the event. \nFunds raised through this event will go toward Easter Seals Ontario programs and services that benefit children and youth with physical disabilities in our community and across the province. \nParticipants in this event will be helping to provide the pivotal support that kids with physical disabilities need to break through barriers and reach their full potential in life. \nA trusted partner and champion since 1922\, Easter Seals Ontario is proud to be marking 102 years of changing the world for kids with physical disabilities in 2024. After receiving the call last December\, Leyland will be inducted into the 2024 class of the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 21 in Cooperstown\, N.Y. \nLeyland served as the Tigers’ skipper from 2006-13\, leading Detroit to one of the greatest turnarounds in baseball history when it reached the World Series in his first season. The Tigers reached the postseason four times under Leyland’s tutelege\, including three straight American League Central titles from 2011-13 and another World Series appearance in 2012. Leyland\, a three-time Manager of the Year winner during his 22 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates\, Florida Marlins\, Colorado Rockies and Detroit\, retired after the 2013 campaign with a career record of 1\,769-1\,728-2\, including 700-597 with the Tigers. \nFollowing his induction to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in July\, legendary manager Jim Leyland will be bestowed one of the club’s highest honors. On Saturday\, August 3 at Comerica Park\, the skipper’s #10 will become the 10th number retired in Tigers history. \nWorn by one of the most successful managers in franchise history\, Leyland’s #10 will become the second number of a manager to be retired by the club\, joining Sparky Anderson\, who’s #11 was retired by the organization in 2011. Leyland is one of three managers in Tigers history to win over 700 games with Detroit\, and the only manager to lead the Tigers to postseason berths four times in his career.

Compete in the 12th annual City County Championship elementary track & ﬁeld meet on Tuesday\, June 18th\, 2024.\nThe City County Championship meet is set to bring the French\, Independent\, Public and Catholic elementary school boards “together in the name of sport”. \nScholarships for top male and female performers\, and gift cards to the Running Factory will be awarded at the meet. \nAddress: Sandwich Secondary School\n7050 Malden Rd\, Windsor\, ON N9J 2T5 \nEvents:\n100m\n400m\n1500\nLJ\nBall Throw\n4x100m relay \nAwards: Gold\, Silver and Bronze medals. \nPlease note: No spikes will be allowed at this meet. \nIMPORTANT: For athletes who are NOT competing in any individual events (only on a relay team)\, you will have to enter as a team and register your entire Relay Team with names. \nCost: Early Registration $20\nUnlimited Events\n$24 per Relay Team \nDeadline to register: June 16th @ 8:00pm\nCost: Late Registration $24\nUnlimited Events\n$24 per Relay Team \nRain Date: June 19th\, 2024 \nScholarships:\nThe Rob “RUN” Moore scholarship is awarded to one male athlete and one female athlete as the performer’s of the meet. This scholarship is named after Associate Coach Rob Moore. Coach Moore is also the head coach of the multiple time OFSAA championship Sandwich Secondary Sabres Track and Field Team. Coach Moore has been the steward of one of the most successful high school track and field programs in the country for the better part of the last 20 years. He has demonstrated\, a steadfast love and commitment to the track and field community\, and a tireless dedication to each and everyone of the athletes under this care. In addition to a commemorative plaque\, each recipient of the Rob “Run” Moore scholarship will be awarded a scholarship that will cover the total cost and fees for a summer membership. \nCost: Early Registration $20 Unlimited Events $24 per Relay Team  Deadline to register: June 16th @ 8:00pm Cost: Late Registration $24 Unlimited Events $24 per Relay Team

DESCRIPTION:DETROIT PISTONS TO HOST SNEAKER GRAB EVENT AT HENRY FORD PISTONS PERFORMANCE CENTER\nThe Detroit Pistons will host a Sneaker Grab event presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey on Saturday\, June 1 from 3-7 p.m.\, welcoming Detroit’s sneaker community to the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center. \nA variety of vendors will be in attendance including vintage streetwear and sneaker resellers\, offering sneakerheads the opportunity to buy\, trade and sell kicks. New to this year’s Sneaker Grab\, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey will offer sneaker cleaning for all participants and provide custom shoe bags while supplies last. The event will also include food trucks\, photo opportunities and prize giveaways. \nTickets are available and can be purchased for $30 by visiting pistons.com/sneaker-grab. All tickets to Sneaker Grab include entry to the event and a ticket to a 2024-25 Pistons game and a ticket to a 2024-25 Motor City Cruise game.
