National Hockey League 50/50+ Sweepstakes

The National Hockey League (NHL®) has announced a one-day NHL 50/50+ Sweepstakes presented by Honda, Official Automotive Partner of the NHL, taking place Saturday, Aug. 15 to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.

On Aug. 15, hockey fans can go to NHL.com/5050sweeps to enter and donate, joining the NHL and Honda in supporting Boys and Girls Clubs across North America. The sweepstakes begins with a guaranteed total prize of $200,000 USD and is open to U.S. and Canadian residents (excluding Quebec, due to unavailability of the sweepstakes). Half will be won by one lucky fan, while the other $100,000 USD will go to Boys & Girls Clubs of America or Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, depending on the location of the winner’s residence. Fans can donate $10 to receive ten entries, $20 to receive 80 entries, or $40 to receive 200 entries.

To further support the inspiring work being done by Boys & Girls Clubs across North America, any amounts raised above and beyond $200,000 – net of expenses – through the sweepstakes will go entirely to Boys & Girls Clubs of America or Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada (the winning fan’s prize will not exceed $100,000, regardless of the size of the total amount raised).

Donations are intended to help build and support youth hockey and skating programming for communities that need it the most through local Boys & Girls Clubs.

“Boys & Girls Clubs help build great futures for children as they provide essential programs and services across the United States and Canada,” said Jeff Scott, NHL Vice President, Community Development and Growth. “We are thrilled to support these young boys and girls in partnership with Honda, a long-standing, committed NHL partner. The donations received by Boys & Girls Clubs will create impactful hockey initiatives in local communities, which will help foster critical youth development while growing the game of hockey.”

“In these difficult times, Boys & Girls Clubs are doing whatever it takes to make sure kids and teens have access to the tools they need to stay physically active, whether at the Club or at home,” says Frank Sanchez, Vice President, Sports & Entertainment, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “Thank you to the NHL and Honda for supporting Boys & Girls Clubs. Now we will be able to provide much needed equipment to kids who need it most.”

“From physical activity to teamwork to the spirit of fair play, sports are an essential ingredient in helping a young person develop the skills they need to succeed in life,” said Owen Charters, President & CEO, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. “We are thrilled that the NHL and Honda have chosen Boys and Girls Clubs as their charity of choice and we look forward to getting more kids across Canada involved in hockey—a much loved part of our country’s heritage.”

“Supporting the communities where we do business is core to the Honda brand, and through our longstanding partnership with the NHL we have the unique opportunity to expand our community outreach to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Canada,” said Meliza Humphrey, manager of Honda Automobile Advertising at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Honda is proud to support NHL fans and their love for the sport and now to help children pursue their own hockey dreams through Boys & Girls Clubs.”
