JEIMER CANDELARIO TO HOLD AUTOGRAPH SIGNING ON MAY 12 AT THE D SHOP PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE DETROIT TIGERS FOUNDATION
Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario will be signing autographs at Comerica Park on Saturday, May 12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The D Shop. Don’t miss this special opportunity to meet Candelario and have your autograph authenticated by Major League Baseball. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities.
Autographs may be purchased at tigers.com/autographs, by calling or emailing the Authentics department (information below) or at The D Shop the day of the event. Autographs are $40 for a ball/picture and $45 for premium items, $15 for all inscriptions up to five words. Free parking will be available in lots 1 and 2, located near Comerica Park. Free parking is for those attending the autograph signing only and expires after the event.
The first 20,000 fans inside the gates will receive a 1968 Detroit Tigers tote bag, sponsored by MLB Network.
Prior to the opening of the gates, fans with pre-purchased tickets will gather for an outreach event, featuring current and former members of the Detroit Tigers, along with other professional athletes, who will share stories about their professional careers and faith.
Prior to the game, Tigers fans will have the chance to go down on the Comerica Park playing surface for On-Field Photo Day to take pictures of their favorite Tigers players. On-Field Photo Day, presented by Ball Park Brand & Meijer, is open to anyone who has a game ticket for May 12 and will run from 2:15 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Tigers infielder Dixon Machado will be honored with the Detroit Sports Media Award in a special pre-game ceremony.
A special pregame on-field ceremony featuring students from the Detroit School of Arts will be held to commemorate a year-long education and community outreach program between the Michigan Opera Theatre and the Detroit Tigers that celebrates the stories of groundbreaking African American artists and athletes. The partnership culminates with this week’s performances of the opera “The Summer King” at the Detroit Opera House, paying tribute to hall of famer Josh Gibson, and the Tigers 16th Annual Negro Leagues Weekend Celebration which will take place in June. As part of this program, students from the Detroit School of Arts wrote, composed, directed and starred in their own opera about Josh Gibson and the legacy of African American’s in arts and sports.
The national anthem will be performed by the Avignon Band, representing Homeplate.
