St. Clair Saints Volleyball vs Sheridan Recap

The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team hosted the Sheridan Bruins on Sunday afternoon at the Sportsplex.

After a tough loss to the top ranked Humber Hawks on Saturday afternoon the Saints rebounded with a solid match and came away with a 3-0 win. St. Clair got off to a great starting taking the first set 25-16 over the Bruins. The Saints continued to roll in the 2nd set winning 25-20. The Saints put the game away in the 3rd set winning 25-16.  Sheridan now has a season record of 6-9 and are ranked 7th in Ontario. Kaila Crough had a great match for St. Clair with 16 kills, 4 service aces and 4 digs.

With the win St. Clair improved to 10-4 on the season and are in 3rd place in the OCAA West Division. The Saints are ranked 4th in the OCAA.

The St. Clair women are hosting the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Sportsplex from Feb 24-26. The Saints first match will be at 8 pm on Friday, February 24.

The Saints are next in action on Saturday, February 5 when they travel to Ancaster to take on the Redeemer Royals.

The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team hosted the Sheridan Bruins on Sunday afternoon at the Sportsplex in a huge match in the OCAA West Division.

St. Clair got off to a great starting taking the first set over the Bruins 25-16. However, it was all Sheridan after that as they took the next three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-22,  and 25-21 to win the match 3-1. Oswald Marshall  led the way for the Saints with 12 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 2 service aces and 14 digs.

With the loss St. Clair fell to 7-7 on the season and are in 7th place in the OCAA West Division. The top 6 teams make the playoffs but St. Clair is only 2 wins out of third place with 4 matches remaining. The Saints are ranked 8th in the OCAA. With the win Sheridan improved to 8-7 on the year and are ranked 7th in Ontario.

The Saints are next in action on Saturday, February 5th when they travel to Ancaster to take on the Redeemer Royals in a match that has massive playoff implications for both teams.
