Windsor Spitfires 2026-27 Schedule

The Windsor Spitfires are excited to announce the 2026-2027 Regular Season Schedule is out! Some key dates for the upcoming 2026–27 regular season schedule, highlighted by a highly anticipated home opener, a mid-season rivalry series, the annual New Years Eve game and a season-ending home finale.

The season begins with momentum as the team takes the ice on Friday September 18th in London for the first game of the season. The home opener is set for Saturday September 19, 2026 at 7:05 p.m., hosting the London Knights in what is expected to be an electric opening night for fans.

Windsor Spitfires Hire Jennifer Love as Athletic Therapist

The Windsor Spitfires have announced the hiring of Jennifer Love as the team’s new Athletic Therapist.

Love brings extensive experience in athletic therapy and human performance to the organization. She joins the Spitfires after a recent stint with the Sarnia Sting (OHL) and was part of the gold medal-winning staff at the 2024 U-17 World Hockey Challenge in Sarnia.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer to the Spitfires family,” said General Manager Bill Bowler. “She comes highly regarded across the OHL, and her professionalism and experience will be a great asset to our club.”

Love has over seven years of experience in the fitness and human performance industry. She completed a two-year internship with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies and earned her Honours Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences – Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College in 2020, where she was also awarded the Anne Hartley Award for excellence in her field.

In addition to her new role with the Spitfires, Love will continue to treat patients through her private practice, Love Fitness Training and Athletic Therapy. She also serves on the OHL Medical and Equipment Committee and has recently taken part in NHL development camps with the Vancouver Canucks (2024) and the Ottawa Senators (July 2025).

“Coming home means everything to me,” said Love. “I grew up a season ticket holder. To now be on the bench and part of the organization I cheered for as a kid is an honour. It’s a privilege to give back to the Windsor community and to work toward bringing a championship to this city.”

Windsor Spitfires Sign 2025 2nd Round Pick Ian Inskip to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement

The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce the signing of forward Ian Inskip to the Red, White and Navy!

Inskip was selected in the second round, 30th overall by the Spitfires in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection draft. Ian hails from L’Orignal, Ontario. He stands at 6’2 and weighs 177lbs.

Inskip played for the CIHA Voyageurs U15 AAA team in 2022. In 2023-24, Ian moved to the Crystal Beach Academy. At the Academy, Ian scored 31 goals and recorded 18 assists over 59 games in multiple competitions. In the 2024-25 season, Ian played for the Mississauga Reps Team in the GTHL. As captain of the club, Inskip had 17 goals and recorded 28 assists in 33 games. Thus, leading to his selection in the OHL Priority Selection.

The L’Orignal, ON native is excited to be joining the club.

“I am incredibly proud to be a Windsor Spitfire.” Inskip said. “I am eager to make a positive impact on the ice, work diligently to develop as a hockey player, and be an active member of the community.”
The passion in the community is what drew Inskip to the Spitfires.

“After being drafted, I had the chance to attend a home playoff game.” Inskip said. “The energy in the building was amazing. After the orientation camp, I was wearing my Spitfires jersey as I came out of a restaurant, and a car pulled out of the parking lot with its passengers yelling, “Let’s go Spits.” The passion the city has for the game I love; makes me feel at home.”

Inskip hopes to bring his high work ethic and philanthropy to the team.

“I will do whatever it takes to improve, and I look forward to learning from the team’s veteran players and coaches.” Inskip said. “On the ice, I will always compete and battle hard. Off the ice, I will always make time for Spits fans and people in need in the community.”

Bill Bowler spoke on Inskip putting pen to paper.

“Ian is a highly skilled center that can play in all situations.” GM Bill Bowler said. “He plays with pace and can make plays under pressure.”

Windsor Spitfires Sign 2025 1st Round Pick John McLaughlin to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement

The Windsor Spitfires have signed forward John McLaughlin to the Red, White and Navy!

McLaughlin was selected in the first round, 21st overall by the Spitfires in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection draft. John hails from Corunna, Ontario. He stands at 5’10 and weighs 165lbs.

McLaughlin played for his hometown Lambton Jr Sting Team for the past three seasons. In the 2023-24 season, McLaughlin played a year up and scored 16 goals and had 17 assists for 33 points in 24 games. In the playoffs, McLaughlin had 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points in 4 games. In the 2024-25 season, John’s season was cut short after an injury, he played in two games and had 2 goals for the Sting. McLaughlin was called up by the Strathroy Rockets (GOJHL) and played in 1 game and had a goal and an assist.  

The Corunna, ON native is excited to be joining the club.

“It feels incredible (to sign).” McLaughlin said. “This is something I have worked toward for a long time and to sign with a team like Windsor is a huge honour. I am proud to be part of such a great organization and I am really excited to get started and put in the work.”

Windsor’s energy and fans made it feel like home for McLaughlin.

“We had some great talks, and I could tell right away that Windsor is a first-class organization.” McLaughlin said. “After the draft, I was able to visit and take in one of their playoff games, and that experience really stood out. The energy in the building with their fans was amazing and the way everyone treated me, and my family made us feel right at home. It just felt like the right place for me.”

McLaughlin hopes to bring his high compete level to the team.

“On the ice, I want to bring energy, compete hard every night and do whatever is asked of me to help the team win.” McLaughlin said. “Off the ice, I just want to be a good teammate, be respectful to everyone and represent the Spitfires the best I can.”

Bill Bowler spoke on McLaughlin putting pen to paper.

“Johnny is a well-rounded player with an elite compete level.” GM Bill Bowler said. “His work ethic and dedication on and off the ice will benefit both Johnny and our hockey club. We were thrilled to get him so late in the first round.”

Spitfires Sign 2024 4th Round Pick Grady Spicer to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement

The Windsor Spitfires have announced the signing of defenceman Grady Spicer to the Red, White and Navy!

Spicer was selected 72nd overall by the Spitfires in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection draft. Grady hails from Brockville, Ontario. He stands at 6’3 and weighs 185lbs.

Spicer played for the Brockville Braves for the past season. In the 2024-25 season, Spicer scored 8 goals and had 13 assists for 21 points. Late in the season, Spicer was called up to the Spitfires and made his OHL debut on April 12th, 2025, in the playoffs. He played in 6 games and was a +1.

Spicer is committed to Clarkson University for the 2027-2028 season.

The Brockville, ON native is excited to be joining the club.

“It feels great to be a Spitfire, they’re such a first-class organization.” Spicer said. “Everything about Windsor makes me want to be a Spitfire.”

Spicer hopes to bring his shutdown role to the Spitfires.

“I hope to bring physicality to the ice and a good stay at home shut down defenceman.” Spicer said. “Off the ice I want to become close with the City of Windsor and help out with anything that’s needed.”

Bill Bowler spoke on Spicer putting pen to paper.

“Grady brings a physical presence.” GM Bill Bowler said. “He had a great year last year with his progression and development and we look forward to him joining the Spitfires.”
