DETROIT PISTONS ACQUIRE JOHN COLLINS, TAUREAN PRINCE AND GARY HARRIS IN SIX-TEAM TRADE

The Detroit Pistons have acquired forward John Collins from the Los Angeles Clippers and forward Taurean Prince and guard Gary Harris from the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a six-team trade. Detroit also received three future second round draft picks from the Memphis Grizzlies in the deal.

As part of the six-team trade, Detroit sent center Isaiah Stewart to Memphis, guard Caris LeVert to Milwaukee and guard Marcus Sasser to Dallas. The Pistons also sent two future second round picks to Milwaukee and one future second round pick to Los Angeles. The six-team trade involved Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis, Milwaukee and Washington.

Collins, 6’9”, 226, spent the 2025-26 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 55.2% from the field and 40.6% from the 3-point line. Across nine NBA seasons, Collins has averaged 15.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Originally selected 19th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Wake Forest, Collins has appeared in 541 career games for the Hawks, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers. In his rookie season with Atlanta, Collins was named to the 2018 NBA All-Rookie Second Team. He has appeared in 29 career playoff games, averaging 12.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game across three postseason appearances.

Prince, 6’6”, 218, spent the 2025-26 season with the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 9.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 45.0% from the field and 43.6% from 3-point range. A 10-year NBA veteran, Prince has averaged 9.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 608 career games for the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers and Bucks. Originally selected 12th overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2016 NBA Draft out of Baylor University, Prince has appeared in 26 career playoff games, averaging 6.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game across five postseason appearances.

Harris, 6’4”, 210, spent the 2025-26 season with the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 2.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 41.2% from the 3-point line in 48 games. A 12-year NBA veteran, Harris has averaged 9.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game on 37% shooting from behind-the-arc after being selected 19th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Michigan State University. Following a draft night trade, Harris appeared in 666 career games for the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic and Bucks. Harris has appeared in 39 career playoff games, averaging 8.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game across four postseason appearances.

Stewart, originally selected 16th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2020 NBA Draft out of the University of Washington, appeared in 365 career games across six seasons with Detroit, averaging 8.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. Last season, Stewart appeared in 58 games for the Pistons and averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 55.0% from the field and was named Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for games in December.

LeVert spent one season with the Pistons, averaging 7.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 41.7% from the field and 33.3% from the 3-point line. Across 10 NBA seasons, LeVert has averaged 13.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Originally selected 20th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2016 NBA Draft out of the University of Michigan.

Sasser averaged 7.0 points and 2.7 assists across 166 career games with the Pistons. He was originally drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies 25th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft and was acquired by Detroit in a multi-team trade on draft night. Sasser played collegiately at the University of Houston where he was named a 2023 First-Team All-American and American Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

PISTONS ACQUIRE GUARD ISAIAH JOE FROM OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

The Detroit Pistons have acquired guard Isaiah Joe from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for two future second-round draft picks.

Joe, 6-4, 165, a six-year NBA veteran, posted a career-best campaign in 2025-26, averaging 11.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 46% from the field and 42% from three-point range across 71 games. Joe ranked fifth among all NBA players in 3-pointers off the bench last season, knocking down 157 threes.

A native of Fort Smith, Ark., Joe was selected 49th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers out of Arkansas in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft. He spent two seasons with the 76ers before arriving in Oklahoma City ahead of the 2022-23 season. In four seasons with the Thunder, Joe averaged 9.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Joe has appeared in 55 career playoff games across five postseasons, including Oklahoma City’s 2025 championship run, while averaging 4.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in playoff games.

PISTONS SIGN GUARD EBUKA OKORIE AND CENTER UGONNA ONYENSO

The Detroit Pistons have also signed rookie guard Ebuka Okorie and center Ugonna Onyenso. Onyenso was signed to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Okorie, 6-1, 186, was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He led the ACC in scoring as a freshman, averaging 23.2 points per game for the Stanford Cardinal, becoming the first Cardinal to do so since Landry Fields in 2009-10. Okorie also averaged 3.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 35.1 minutes per game across 31 appearances as a freshman. He ranked third among all freshmen in scoring and tied for the most 30-point games of any freshman nationally with eight, matching the ACC freshman record previously held by Duke’s Marvin Bagley III. His 719 points last season marked the second-most in Stanford history for a freshman and third-most overall in a single season in program history.

A native of Nashua, N.H., Okorie broke Stanford’s freshman single-game scoring record three times, capped by a 40-point performance against Georgia Tech that made him one of just six freshmen in ACC history to score 40 in a game. After originally committing to Harvard, Okorie stepped into the Cardinal’s starting lineup and earned First Team All-ACC and ACC All-Freshman Team honors. Okorie will be the second player in Stanford program history to join the Detroit Pistons franchise, along with former NBA scoring champion George Yardley.

Onyenso, 6-11, 237, was selected with the 53rd overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He averaged 6.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks across 36 contests while shooting 56.8% from the field and 72.7% from the free throw line for the Virginia Cavaliers last season. Onyenso led the ACC and ranked second nationally in blocks (2.9 per game) last season in 18.6 minutes per game. His efforts earned him a spot on the ACC All-Defensive Team and the ACC All-Tournament First Team as the Cavaliers advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

A native of Owerri, Nigeria, Onyenso became the youngest player ever to suit up for the Nigerian national team at 17-years-old. The Owerri-born center spent three years at the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal before relocating to Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut, where he averaged 13.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. Following high school, Onyenso committed to Kentucky as a five-star recruit. After two seasons in Lexington and one year at Kansas State, Onyenso committed to Virginia for his senior year.

NBA SETS SALARY CAP FOR 2026-27 SEASON

The National Basketball Association Salary Cap for the 2026-27 season has been set at $164.961 million. The Tax Level for the 2026-27 season is $200.428 million.

The Salary Cap and Tax Level go into effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Wednesday, July 1. Teams are permitted to begin negotiating with all free agents at 6:00 p.m. ET on June 30, 2026 — six hours prior to the start of the league’s “moratorium period.” The moratorium period ends at noon ET on Monday, July 6. For the 2026-27 season:

• The Minimum Team Salary is $148.465 million;
• The First Apron Level is $209.015 million; and
• The Second Apron Level is $221.686 million.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement provides for three different Mid-Level Exceptions depending on a team’s salary level. The Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level for the 2026-27 season is $15.044 million, the Taxpayer Mid-Level is $6.064 million, and the Mid-Level for a team with room under the Salary Cap is $9.366 million.

NBA BOARD OF GOVERNORS APPROVES NEW DRAFT LOTTERY SYSTEM TO ADDRESS TANKING

“3-2-1 Lottery” Designed to Eliminate Incentives for Teams to Prioritize Draft Position Over Winning

The NBA Board of Governors has approved a new NBA Draft Lottery system designed to eliminate incentives for teams to prioritize their position in the Draft over winning games.

The “3-2-1 Lottery” expands the lottery from 14 to 16 teams and flattens odds among teams that do not qualify for the NBA Playoffs or NBA Play-In Tournament. The new system will take effect beginning with the 2027 NBA Draft.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE 3-2-1 LOTTERY

Flattened Odds and Draft Relegation: Each team participating in the Draft Lottery will receive three, two or one lottery ball for the drawing. Teams that do not qualify for the NBA Playoffs or NBA Play-In Tournament will receive three lottery balls each, except that – to provide an increased incentive to win – the teams with the three worst records will be “draft relegated” and lose one of their lottery balls. The No. 9 and No. 10 Play-In seeds in each conference will receive two lottery balls each, while the losers of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 Play-In games in each conference will receive one lottery ball each.

Lottery Drawing: Lottery balls allocated to all 16 participating teams will be drawn to determine the order of selection for the first 16 picks in the first round of the NBA Draft.

Pick Floors: Each draft-relegated team will receive, at worst, the No. 12 pick in the NBA Draft. All other lottery teams can fall as far as the No. 16 pick.

Pick Restrictions: No team’s pick will be permitted to be the first pick in two consecutive NBA Drafts or a top-five pick in three consecutive NBA Drafts. These restrictions will apply only to each team’s own pick without regard to whether that pick has been retained by the team or traded to (and thus held by) another team.

Pick Protections: Teams will be unable to attach top-12 through top-15 protections to newly traded draft picks.

Discipline: The league will have expanded disciplinary authority to address tanking, including the ability to reduce teams’ lottery odds, modify teams’ draft positions and impose significant fines on offending teams.

Since October, the league office has met with key stakeholders to discuss current competitive incentives and solicit ideas aimed at discouraging tanking. That process led to the creation of the 3-2-1 Lottery.

The 3-2-1 Lottery will be in effect for the 2027, 2028 and 2029 NBA Drafts. Rules governing selection order beginning with the 2030 NBA Draft will be determined by a vote of the Board of Governors.
