25TH ANNUAL HOCKEY FOR HOSPICE TOURNAMENT – A RECORD BREAKING ANNIVERSARY YEAR!
Organizers have announced the results of the hugely successful 25th Annual Hockey For Hospice tournament.
Originally scheduled for December 27/28/29 2021, the tournament was rescheduled to Family Day Weekend, 2022. This year, they are proud and honoured to announce a record breaking year – more than $482,618.00 was raised by nearly 2,000 young hockey players from across our region!
Originally conceived as a skate-a-thon by tournament founder, Tim Beaulieu, Hockey For Hospice has grown each year from its humble beginnings. This year’s edition included a schedule of more than 237 games played at five different arenas over three days. Divisions included U7 and U8 Jamboree, as well as U9, U11, U13, and U15 boys divisions, and U9, U11, and U13, girls divisions.
“We are truly blown away by these amazing young players. Each year they continue to amaze us with their skills on the ice, and their investment in our Hospice off the ice – they are true Hospice Champions. I want to thank all the players, coaches, managers, family members, and participants, as well as our amazing committee for making this event happen for the 25th year.”
Nancy Brockenshire, Executive Director of The Hospice
“Different families have different types of holiday traditions – for our family and friends, Hockey For Hospice has been a 25 year tradition,” remarks Tim Beaulieu, Tournament Founder and Co-Chair. “We are absolutely astonished at what these young players have done in support of our community, and we look forward to planning the next tournament.”
Over the past 25 years, Hockey For Hospice teams have raised $4,178,410.00! Hockey For Hospice is presented by Ground Effects Ltd.
