The Detroit Lions travel to Minnesota in Week 9 to face the Vikings for the teams’ first meeting of 2016

The Lions (4-4) are coming off a 20-13 loss at Houston in Week 8, while Minnesota (5-2) fell to Chicago 20-10 on Monday Night Football. Dating back to the 2013 season, Detroit and Minnesota have split the series record with three wins each, as Minnesota holds the edge in the all-time series history, 71-36-2. The Vikings won the most recent meeting on October 25, 2015 28-19 at Ford Field.

  • The following players have been listed on the Detroit Lions’ Practice Report today: LB DeAndre Levy (knee/quad) and T Riley Reiff (illness) did not practice. DE Ezekiel Ansah (ankle), CB Adairius Barnes (hamstring), T Taylor Decker (ribs), WR Marvin Jones Jr. (foot), DT Haloti Ngata (shoulder), RB Theo Riddick (ankle) and CB Darius Slay (hamstring) were limited in practice. T Corey Robinson (ankle) participated in full practice.
  • The following players have been listed on the Minnesota Vikings’ Practice Report today: G Alex Boone (concussion/shoulder/knee), LB Eric Kendricks (concussion), DT Tom Johnson (concussion), G Zac Kerin (hand), RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) and DT Sharrif Floyd (knee) did not participate in practice. CB Xavier Rhodes (calf), CB Captain Munnerlyn (foot), LB Anthony Barr (groin), CB Marcus Sherels (wrist) and S Andrew Sendejo(ankle) were limited in practice. TRANSACTIONS

  • The Detroit Lions announced yesterday that they have signed free agent TE Matthew Mulligan and acquired CB Johnthan Banks via trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a 2018 conditional seventh-round draft pick.
  • In addition, the Lions placed TE Cole Wick (knee) on Reserve/Injured and DE Armonty Bryant on Reserve/Suspended.

VIKINGS HEAD COACH MIKE ZIMMER CONFERENCE CALL

On how surprised he was Vikings Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner resigned today and the impact it has on their Week 9 preparation: “I was very surprised. As far as the impact, a lot of things this year and this season, we’re going to get prepared like we always do and move forward.”

On if there were any indications prior to today that Turner planned to resign: “No.”

On Turner’s reasoning for his resignation: “It was personal reasons and I’ll keep them between me and him.”

On how he expects the offense to change going forward: “I don’t know that it will change very much. It’s hard to change in one day.”

On how interim Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur can contribute in his new role: “Right now we’re just trying to get everybody on the same page and go from there. We just want to continue to move forward and try to get better. Everybody is trying to help one another, and we’re trying to get there offensively, that’s all.”
