Spitfires Blank Colts in Barrie

Graham Knott scored twice, including the game-winner, and Michael DiPietro made 21 saves as the Windsor Spitfires blanked the Barrie Colts 3-0 at the Barrie Molson Centre Thursday night.

Knott opened the scoring in the game late in the second period when he broke in on a breakaway and was stopped but pounced on his own rebound to notch his seventh goal of the season. The goal stood up as the eventual game winner.

Tyler Nother staked the Spitfires (19-5-4-0) to a 2-0 lead early in the third period before Knott rounded out the scoring with his second goal of the game.

Christian Propp made 36 saves for the Colts (8-16-3-1) who were held scoreless for the second consecutive game.

With the win over the Colts, the Spitfires swept the two-game regular season series between the two clubs.

The Spitfires return to action Saturday night for a contest in Sudbury against the Wolves.

The Spitfires (42) are currently four points behind the Western Conference leading Erie Otters (46).
