NHL NEWS JAN 4 – BLUE JACKETS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO 16 GAMES, ONE SHY OF NHL RECORD

Three different skaters scored to help Columbus extend their franchise-record win streak to 16 games, the second-longest single-season win streak in NHL history behind only Pittsburgh’s 17-game run from March 9 – April 10, 1993.

The League-leading Blue Jackets (27-5-4, 58 points) also extended their franchise-record overall point streak to 18 games (17-0-1) and home win streak to eight games, establishing another club record.

Sergei Bobrovsky (21 saves) extended his career-high and franchise-record win and point streaks to 14 and 16 games (15-0-1), respectively. Bobrovsky (25-5-2; 1.92 GAA, .934 SV%, 3 SO) paces all goaltenders with 25 wins this season.

Nick Foligno (3-7—10), Brandon Saad (3-5—8) and Alexander Wennberg (2-6—8) each extended their point streak to six games.

The Blue Jackets will look to match the longest single-season win streak in NHL history (Pittsburgh Penguins 1992-93, 17 consecutive wins) when they visit the Capitals on Thursday.
