WINDSOR CLIPPERS JUNE 18 2017 GAME RECAP TORCH BLUE DEVILS

The Windsor Clippers closed out the regular season with a 19-5 torching of the London Blue Devils. The Clippers finish the regular season with a record of 13-6-1, Far West division champs and fourth overall in the western conference. The Clippers will meet the fifth seeded Wallaceburg Red Devils in the first round best of five series. The Clippers took the regular season series from the Red Devils 2-1-1.

The Clippers put up 93 shots on goal against the outclassed Blue Devils. Brendan Wallace scored five times for the Clippers, including three of them in a span of 20 seconds, and the Clippers put up another as they strung together four goals in 28 seconds. Regular season scoring champion in waiting, Andrew Garant had a 12 point game. Noah Bushnell bulged the twine three times while Dylan Riley and Chase Kavanaugh scored two goals each. Singles were added by Austin Thompson, Chad Marentette and Blain Wallace.

Rookie Liam Tomes got his first career start in goal for the Clippers and earned the win, stopping 32 of 37 London shots.

Scoring leader Andrew Garant will not be caught with the last few remaining games on the league schedule. Garant finished the regular season with 146 points. Garant scored 45 goals and 101 assists. The 146 points is a new Windsor Clippers record, one point more than a mark that was set last season by Logan Holmes at 145 points. Teammate Chase Kavanaugh will finish second in the scoring race with 120 points, 45 goals and 75 assists. Layne Smith of the Six Nations Rebels scored the most goals in the league with 72 goals to go with 40 assists for 112 points. Smith’s 72 goals is a new record for goals by a Rebel.

The Clippers will announce the playoff schedule as soon as it is available.
