Local Windsor Essex Businesses Bring Holiday Cheer to SOAR Program
Holiday cheer is on its way to children in the SOAR after school program at Windsor Water World courtesy of two local businesses. On Friday December 18th at 3:30 pm, Supreme Restoration Services and DS Electric will be delivering toys and gift cards to all 24 children who participate in this program.
“I am absolutely speechless over the generosity shown by Supreme Restoration Services and Michael from DS Electric. I know this act of kindness will go so far with our program participants and their families. It has been a difficult year for everyone and I’m delighted to see some holiday magic happen for our SOAR family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” Katie Pavlovski, Supervisor, Community Programming.
SOAR (Sports, Opportunities, Academics, and Recreation), is a free and inclusive after school program which offers fun and stimulating activities for everyone to enjoy. In addition to active play, kids have time to socialize with friends and do homework with assistance from the staff. Participants are also taught the importance of healthy eating and are provided nutritious snacks daily.
This holiday cheer comes at the perfect time as the SOAR program is currently on hiatus due to the current grey status of our region and with schools closed. This program is funded by the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, and the City of Windsor.
Each of the 24 children involved will receive a wrapped toy and $10 McDonalds gift card, and each family will also receive a $25 Presidents Choice gift card.
Representatives from Supreme Restoration Services and DS Electric have dropped off the items to the City of Windsor staff, who will be onsite outdoors in Fred Thomas Park (adjacent to Windsor Water World) at 3:30pm on Friday December 18th to distribute the gifts to the students. Proper PPE (facemasks, gloves and face shields) will be worn by all staff. Children will be asked to wear a facemask when they arrive for their scheduled pick up time, and hand sanitizer will be available for all.
