Lancers Kick Cancer

The Windsor Lancer soccer teams will be hosting a fundraising event for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada on Friday, October 13th in honour of University of Victoria Vikes soccer captain Mackenzie Rigg who passed away in March of 2022.

In honour of Mackenzie’s life, the Riggs’ family and the Vikes raised funds to start a grant and Lisa Porter, Director, WE-SPARK Health Institute at the University of Windsor was the first recipient, along with a lab at McMaster University.

To show support for Mackenzie and gratitude to his family, the Lancers are raising funds for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada to help keep his name alive and help fuel the next grant so another lab can continue to move the field forward.

The Brain Tumour Foundation, Dr. Lisa Porter, and members of the WE-SPARK Health Institute will be on hand to answer questions, accept donations, and also present a cheque for current funds raised in Mackenzie’s honour.

The Lancer women will kick off at 6:00pm against Waterloo, followed by the men at 8:00pm.
