St. Clair Women’s Indoor Soccer Off to OCAA Championships

The St. Clair Saints women’s varsity indoor soccer team was in Toronto on Thursday taking part in the OCAA Regionals at the Ontario Soccer Centre. The St. Clair women went 4-0 in their pool finishing in first to advance to the OCAA Championship.

The Saints got off to a great start defeating the University of Lakehead Orillia 8-0. Cassie Nicholas (Windsor; Holy Names) and Ravneet Rana (Windsor; Riverside) each scored two goals for the Saints with singles going to Katelyn Austin (Parkhill; North Middlesex Secondary), Serena Smith (Tecumseh, St. Anne’s), Lindsey Campbell (LaSalle; Villanova) and Ryan Morneau (Windsor; L’Essor). Natalie Turner (Windsor; Holy Names) and Madison Kaldenbach (Milton; Craig Kielburger) split the game in goal in picking up the shutout and win.

In their second match of the day St. Clair defeated the Sheridan Bruins 3-1. Turner had a strong game in goal in picking up the win. Cassie Rose-Medeiros (London; John Paul II) scored twice for the Saints with Jaclyn French (Windsor, FJ Brennan) adding a single.

The Saints continued their hot play beating Georgian 4-0 in their third game of the day. Turner and Kaldenbach once again split the game in goal in picking up the win and shutout. Goal scorers were Nicholas, Campbell, Austin and Morneau.

In their fourth and final match of the day the St. Clair defeated the University of Toronto-Mississauga 1-0. Rose-Medeiros was the lone goal scorer. Turner had another solid game in goal earning the win and clean sheet.

The OCAA Championships are being hosted by Humber College in Toronto from March 21-22 . The event features the top 8 female teams from across Ontario.

St. Clair Men’s Indoor Soccer Narrowly Miss Qualifying for OCAA Championship

The St. Clair Saints men’s varsity indoor soccer team was in Toronto on Thursday taking part in the OCAA Regionals at the Ontario Soccer Centre. The St. Clair men went 2-1-1 in their pool which put them in 3rd place behind Sheridan and Centennial. Sheridan was 3-0-1 while Centennial was 2-0-2. The top two teams advance to the Championship.

The Saints got off to good start in their first game defeating the University of Laurier-Brantford 6-1. St. Clair tied their second match 3-3 against a tough Centennial squad. In their third match of the day St. Clair defeated the University of Lakehead Orillia easily by a score of 9-0. The Saints wrapped up the event losing to the Sheridan Bruins by a score of 2-1 in a game that they had to win or tie to advance

This is the first time in six years since the Saints men rejoined Indoor Soccer that they have not qualified for the Championship. The OCAA Championships are being hosted by Humber College in Toronto from March 21-22 . The event features the top 8 male teams from across Ontario.
