Saints Volleyball vs Hamilton and Welland Recap

The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team were on the road this past weekend to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers and the Niagara College Knights.

On Saturday night, the Saints took on the Mohawk Mountaineers in Hamilton. St. Clair came away with a solid 3-1 win. Set scores for St. Clair were 25-22, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-19. Mohawk is currently ranked 5th in the OCAA. With the loss Mohawk fell to 7-6 on the season.

On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was in Welland to take on the top ranked Niagara Knights. The Saints played well against a strong Niagara team but fell to the Knights 3-1. Game scores for Niagara were 25-21, 19-25, 27-25 and 25-18. Niagara is ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 11th in Canada. The Knights are now 11-1 on the season.

With the weekend split, the Saints are now 9-3 on the season and  in 3rd place in the OCAA West Division. The women are currently ranked 4th in the OCAA.

St. Clair is next in action on Saturday, January 28 when they host the Humber Hawks at 1 pm at the Sportsplex. The Hawks are ranked 1st in the OCAA and 1st in Canada. The match will be broadcast live.

The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team earned a big split on the road this past weekend when then travelled to Hamilton and Welland.

On Saturday night, the Saints took on the Mohawk Mountaineers in Hamilton. St. Clair had a solid match but ended up falling to the Mountaineers 3-0. Set scores for Mohawk were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21. Mohawk is currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 7th in Canada. With the win Mohawk improved to 11-2 on the season.

On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was in Welland to take on the Niagara Knights. The Saints played well against a strong Niagara team and came away with a tough 3-1 upset win. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, and 25-21. Niagara who dropped to 7-5 on the season,  are ranked 6th in the OCAA.

With the weekend split, the Saints are now 6-6 on the season and in 7th  place in a very tight OCAA West Division. However, the Saints are only 1 win out of fourth place. The men are currently ranked 9th  in the OCAA.
