The Windsor Express (4-3) had a strong fourth quarter against the visiting Niagara River Lions (2-4), outscoring them 34-13 to come away with a 112-90 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Windsor Express finished the first quarter with a 24-23 advantage after a lot of back-and-forth baskets between both teams through the midway point.

The second quarter opened up with a three pointer from Adam Blazek to put the River Lions within 2, 26-24. The River Lions took control and were able to create a ten point lead over the Express before the midway point of the quarter. Brandon Robinson’s bonus situation at the buzzer put the Express back in the lead, and went into halftime with a 57-55 lead.

The second half started with a dunk from Clinton-Springer Williams, followed by a quick three pointer from Tony Bennett. The rest of the quarter saw back-and-forth baskets between both teams. Windsor was able to make a comeback with Brandon Robinson’s four points in the last minute of the quarter. Alex Johnson gets a buzzer beater bucket to give Windsor a 78-77 lead.

The fourth quarter didn’t see a basket until the 10:43 when Logan Stutz drained a three. The momentum shifted in the favour of the Express when they went on a 13-3 run, and the River Lions Maurice Bolden’s two handed slam seals the Express victory, 112-90.

Brandon Robinson had a double double in tonight’s win, putting up 32 points (game high) and 13 rebounds. Maurice Bolden also had a double double, putting up 22 points and 17 rebounds (game high).

Logan Stutz put up 26 points for the River Lions. Adam Blazek had a double double (12 points, 10 rebounds).

The Windsor Express will travel out east this Thursday, January 14th to take on the Moncton Miracles at 6:00pm EST/7:00pm AST. The next day, the Express will travel to Charlottetown to take on the Island Storm on Friday, January 15th for a 6:00pm EST/7:00pm AST start.

The Windsor Express return to The WFCU Centre on Sunday January 17th to host the Orangeville A’s for a 2:00pm game start.
