NHL Season Kicks Off Tonight

Four games are slated for the NHL opening night schedule.

Maple Leafs vs Senators. 7:00 PM ET

  • Tonight is the first time the Maple Leafs have opened a regular season in Ottawa.
  • The Maple Leafs have hosted the Senators in four season openers and have a record of 0-2-2.
  • The Maple Leafs are playing their first season opener on the road since 2013-14 when they defeated the Montreal Canadiens by a 4-3 score.
  • In 98 season openers, the Maple Leafs have a record of 38-43-14-3. In 39 season openers on the road, the Maple Leafs have a record of 14-20-5-0.
  • The Maple Leafs are 5-3-2 in their last 10 season opening games.
  • Jake Gardiner (2-3-5) led the Maple Leafs in total preseason scoring, while Matt Hunwick led the team in goals (3) and Mitch Marner led the team in assists (4).
  • The Maple Leafs begin the season with 12 players who were not on last year’s opening day roster.
