St. Clair’s Huisman Named West Division Player of the Year

The OCAA has announced their women’s volleyball regular season award winners on Wednesday and the St. Clair Saints program earned some significant accolades.

Leading the way was third year year middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Maranatha Christian Academy) who was named a West Division First Team All Star and OCAA West Division Player of the Year. As the Player of the Year she will also be recognized as a CCAA All Canadian at the CCAA National Championship. Huisman is only the fourth St. Clair women’s volleyball player in history to be named an All Canadian. Geneva was second in the OCAA West with 3.33 kills/set, first in the West with a .412 kill percentage, third in the West with 4.3 points/set and second in the West with .67 blocks per set.

Second year outside hitter Brianne Hobbin (Guelph; Centennial CV) and third year outside hitter Haleigh Kearns (Prince George, BC; DP Todd Secondary) earned recognition as a West Division Second Team All Stars.

The Saints are next in action on Saturday at 7 pm when they host the La Cite Coyotes (3rd East) in the OCAA Quarterfinal at the Sportsplex. The winner will advance to the Final Four Championship.
