St. Clair to Play for Bronze in OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship
Humber Hawks prove that they are still the number one threat in the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship being held at St Clair College’s SportsPlex.
The final match score of 3-0 was deceiving in this one though. The Saints had significant leads late in both sets one and two but could not put the Hawks away. Humber played well late and refused to give up. The Saints battled hard in all three sets but could not take one from the Hawks. The set scores for Humber were 25-22, 27-25, and 25-23.
The Hawks remain undefeated on the season after going 18-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs. Humber are ranked 1st in Ontario and 2nd in Canada while the Saints are ranked 6th in Ontario.
The Player of the Game for Humber was Gabie Miletic who spread the ball around well with 25 assists along with 4 kills and 1 service ace. Brynne Spence-Coleman led the Hawks offensively with 9 kills and 2 service aces.
St. Clair’s player of the game was Taylor Fitzgerald who had a solid all around match. The Saints were led offensively by Angela Evans who had 11 kills, 2 service aces and 1 stuff block.
Humber now advance to the gold medal game against the Durham Lords on Sunday at 5pm while St Clair will contend for the bronze against Niagara at 2:30pm.
