Canada vs South Korea, May 6, 2018 Recap. 2018 IIHF World Championship

HERNING, Denmark – Team Canada picked up its first win at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, shutting out South Korea 10-0 Sunday in Herning, Denmark.
 
The Canadians broke the game open with six goals in the second period, including three in less than 90 seconds, to seal the victory.
  • Mathew Barzal (Coquitlam, B.C./New York Islanders), Pierre-Luc Dubois (Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Que./Columbus), Joel Edmundson (Brandon, Man./St. Louis), Tyson Jost (Kelowna, B.C./Colorado) and Connor McDavid (Newmarket, Ont./Edmonton) led the way with three points each.
  • Jordan Eberle (Regina, Sask./New York Islanders), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Burnaby, B.C./Edmonton), Ryan O’Reilly (Varna, Ont./Buffalo), Colton Parayko (St. Albert, Alta./St. Louis) and Brayden Schenn (Saskatoon, Sask./St. Louis) rounded out the scoring, as 17 different players registered at least a point in the win.
  • Curtis McElhinney (London, Ont./Toronto) picked up the shutout in his tournament debut, stopping all 25 of South Korea’s attempts as Canada outshot their opponent 50-25.
