Alex Campbell Named NBLC Canadian Player of the Year

The National Basketball League of Canada has announced that Alex Campbell of the Island Storm has been named Canadian Player of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

A collegiate of the University of Windsor, Campbell has played the last two seasons with the Storm.

“Our franchise here on the Island is so very proud and happy that Alex has been named Canadian Player of the Year!”, said head coach Tim Kendrick. “Alex has simply done everything we have asked of him this season! He scores for us, rebounds for us, defends the other teams top players for us, and makes his teammates better! He is always ready and willing to do whatever I ask of him, even when not at his best physically, and never complains! He is a leader, a competitor, and a great teammate! In my humble opinion, he is one of the very best players in the NBLC! I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to coach him over these past two seasons!”

Campbell led his team in scoring with 20 points per game which ranked him 7th in the league and recorded NBL Canada’s very first triple double of the season on December 28th. Notably he has also earned Canadian Player of the Week honours three times on December 29, 2019, January 5 and February 9th.
