CARHA Hockey World Cup Street Banners

You can now celebrate an incredible week of hockey by purchasing one of the street banners that welcomed the over 2,200 hockey players from 14 countries to Windsor Essex from April 3 – 10, 2016. The 2016 Molson Canadian CARHA Hockey World Cup has been labeled the “Olympics” of rec hockey and since its inception, has grown to be the largest international adult rec hockey tournament in the world.

The athletes spent a week enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of Windsor Essex in between over 240 hockey games played in arenas in Windsor, Tecumseh, and La Salle and attendees praised the warm welcome they received everywhere they went.

The festivities opened with a rousing block party drawing over 3,000 hosted in downtown Windsor on Sunday, April 3rd. In addition, a crowd of over 2,300 cheered for their favourites at the CARHA Hockey Feature Game at the WFCU Centre on Friday, April 8th.

“The CARHA Hockey World Cup generated tremendous excitement and we wanted to offer fans a piece of history. We had access to this unique item which isn’t available to other groups and decided to make it available for sale,” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, who also commented that the idea to sell the banners stemmed from frequent inquiries from fans and collectors on how they could get them.
