Jalen Chatfield scored the overtime winner and Michael Dipietro made 32 saves as the Windsor Spitfires defeat the London Knights 5-4 at the WFCU Centre Sunday

The overage defenceman broke in on an odd man rush and used Aaron Luchuk as the decoy before rifling a shot over over the outstretched glove hand of Michael Parson in the Knights net to win the game.

Gabriel Vilardi, playing in just his third game of the season since returning from a knee injury, scored his third and fourth goals of the season while Jeremiah Addison and Cristiano DiGiacinto scored the other goals for the Spitfires (6-2-0) who won all three of their games on the weekend. Logan Brown chipped in with four assists on the afternoon.

The line of Vilardi, Brown and Addison combined for 8 points in the game, giving the trio 22 points in the three contests since being put together.

Max Jones, Robert Thomas, Cliff Pu and Janne Kuokkanen replied for the Knights (3-1-1-1) while Parsons made 27 saves while taking his first loss of the OHL season.

The Spitfires lost OHL leading goal scorer Cole Carter in the second period to an undisclosed upper body injury after he was hit by the Knights’ Sam Miletic. Carter did not return to the game and in fact was seen in his street clothes during the third period.

The Spitfires return to action Thursday night against the Flint Firebirds before heading up the 401 for a return game against the Knights at the Budweiser Gardens Friday night in London.
