Forward Chris Playfair assigned to the Junior B LaSalle Vipers

The 16-year-old native of Waterloo suited up for seven games this season. He was the club’s fourth round pick (#75 overall) in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. “We’re deep at forward,” said General Manager Warren Rychel. “Right now, Chris needs to play more games and log more minutes and he’ll get that chance in LaSalle.”

UNDER-17 TEAM CHOSEN

Head Coach Rocky Thompson will man the Team Canada Red bench at the upcoming World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sault Ste Marie. Hockey Canada released its three rosters for the event today, which also include rookie defenceman Connor Corcoran, who will suit up for Team Canada Black. “I’m looking forward to my first experience with Hockey Canada,” Thompson said. “And I’m happy for Connor. I think it will be a great experience for both of us.” The tournament runs October 27th to November 5th at the Essar Centre.
