LIONS HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL

On WR Calvin Johnson and DE Ezekiel Ansah being selected to the Pro Bowl: “I think it’s an honor for both. No matter how many times you go, I’m sure they look at it the same way. It’s great for them to have an opportunity to represent their team or represent their conference. Obviously, it’s also a testament to the fact that their peers admire the job that they do. For Ziggy, his first time out, I’m sure it’s quite exciting for him and it’s something he’ll never forget, but I would anticipate that if the good Lord keeps him healthy, there will be more to come.”

On having a chance to go 7-9 to finish out the season: “We’ve got a chance to win the next game, that’s what we’ve got a chance to do. We’ll talk about all that other stuff later. We’ve got a chance to win this game, that’s what we better get prepared to do. That and only that.”

On the 49ers not having a recognizable roster and what players can give teams trouble: “I would disagree with you on that. A couple guys that are Pro Bowlers and also won world championships. Anquan Boldin, who’s without question one of the great competitors of all time. A guy that’s got a unusual body type because he’s a big man, about 227 pounds of raw muscle with a competitive streak like you’ve never seen before and Torrey Smith, who’s got speed to burn. We certainly know those guys up close and personal.  (NaVorro) Bowman, I would assume, that’s a Pro Bowler. I would assume that fans would know who he is, I think he’s pretty recognizable. (Ahmad) Brooks, I think he’s pretty recognizable.  (Ian) Williams that’s played in the middle, been around the league a long time, think he’s pretty recognizable. I can go on and on. You go to their offensive side of the ball, (Blaine) Gabbert’s not an unknown quantity, he can move and run. So I disagree with that, I think it’s just like any team in this league, there are talented guys that play this game and that’s why each and every week you just don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s the reason why they have a salary cap, everybody’s got players and these guys are no exception and they have a great coaching staff. ”
