Donnavan Carter has resigned as the Associate Head Coach of the Lancer football team.
During his three years with the program, Donnavan Carter served as the Defensive Coordinator and helped lead the Lancers to two quarter-final post season appearances.
Carter will be joining the Guelph Gryphons football program, effective immediately. “I would like to thank Donnavan for his contributions to the Lancer Football program over the past three years,” commented Lancer Football head coach Joe D’Amore. “He brought a lot of knowledge and execution to our defense. The players enjoyed playing for him and he will be missed. We wish him all the best in his new position. “
“We want to thank Donnavan for his contributions to Lancer Football and wish him continued success in his coaching career,” said athletic director Mike Havey.
“I have enjoyed so many aspects of my time with the Windsor Lancer program, and feel that I grew as a coach while there,” said Carter. “I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be around such fine student-athletes, and a very bright coaching staff.”
Prior to joining the Blue & Gold, Carter spent four seasons with the Toronto Varsity Blues following a professional football career in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Over his eight year CFL career, Carter was a starter at the safety and linebacker positions with the Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Renegades, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Lancers will host the Guelph Gryphons in the Labour Day Classic, September 5th at 1:00pm.
Coach D’Amore will be looking to fill the defensive coaching positions in the coming week.
