NHL NEWS – EHLERS OT WINNER…FOR OTHER TEAM

The Capitals, Avalanche and Devils each earned overtime wins on Friday in unlikely fashion.

Colorado surrendered a two-goal lead in the second period, but Avalanche forward Rene Bourque (2-0—2) was credited with his fourth career overtime goal when Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers directed the puck into his own net. Bourque has collected 4-1—5 this season (11 GP) to surpass his goal output from 2015-16 (3-5—8 in 49 GP w/ CBJ).

The Blackhawks tied the game with 22.3 seconds left in the third period, but Marcus Johansson scored in overtime to help the Capitals improve to 6-1-0 in their past seven contests and halt Chicago’s win streak at seven games. The overtime goal was the first of Johansson’s NHL career (432 GP).

Captain Andy Greene scored a penalty shot goal in overtime to lift the Devils to their third straight win in the first half of a back-to-back, home-and-home set with the Sabres.
