St. Clair Women’s Soccer Home Opener Sunday 1 pm

The St. Clair College women’s varsity soccer open their OCAA season this Sunday at Acumen Stadium. The Saints will be hosting the Sheridan Bruins (Oakville) at 1 pm. St. Clair went 2-7-1 last season narrowly missing the playoffs while Sheridan went 5-3-2. St. Clair had a solid exhibition pre-season with 4 wins and a loss. The St. Clair women have an large and outstanding crop of talented rookies and are arguably the youngest team in the entire CCAA as their roster features 16 players born in 2005.The only returning player from last season is defender and captain Alec Habash (LaSalle; Assumption). Transfer Annah Zacerkowny (LaSalle; Sandwich) will be expected to contribute as well. Zacerkowny is a midfielder who played for 3 seasons at Lourdes University in Ohio. Midfielder, Alexa Mognon (Lasalle; Assumption), a transfer from the University of Windsor will also be a key player for the Saints.

St. Clair Men’s Soccer Home Opener Sunday 3 pm

The St. Clair College men’s varsity soccer open their OCAA season this Sunday at Acumen Stadium. The Saints will be hosting the Sheridan Bruins (Oakville) at 3 pm. St. Clair went 5-4-1 losing in the OCAA Quarterfinal 2-1 to the Seneca Sting, the eventual National and Provincial Silver Medalists. St. Clair had a solid exhibition pre-season with 1 win, 1 loss and 2 ties. This is a huge season for the Saints as they are hosting the CCAA National Championship from November 8-11 at the Sportspark. As host St. Clair earns an automatic berth in this prestigious event. The St. Clair roster is loaded with many returning players and also includes some key transfers. The roster features four true rookies along with 14 players with at least 2 years of varsity soccer experience. Some of the key returnees are former OCAA All-Stars Mateo Grahovac (Windsor; Riverside), Patrick Maheux (Amherstburg, Villanova), Austin Severino (Kingsville; Kingsville District), Riley Drkulec (Belle River; St. Anne’s) and Zain Nizam (Windsor; Kennedy). A couple key transfers are Tanner Page (Bothwell; West Elgin), Thomas Saba (Leamington; Cardinal Carter) and Michael Zicvic (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) who all have significant experience at the U Sports level.
