Juan Pattillo, Garrett Williamson Named Players of the Week
The National Basketball League of Canada has announced that Juan Pattillo of the Windsor Express has been named Player of the Week for the week ending January 20, 2019.
Pattillo, a 6’8″ forward from Western Kentucky University, averaged a double-double of 28 points and 10.5 rebounds in two Express victories this week.
“I’ve gotten a better feel for the team and the ways to score as the season progressed. I’ve been fortunate enough to help the team in the way that I can, to get off that hump and back to winning. I’m pretty confident in the team we have now, going forward, taking one game at a time and never getting ahead of myself, try to do what I can and put the team in the best position to win the game.” – Juan Pattillo
The National Basketball League of Canada also announced that Garrett Williamson of the London Lightning has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending January 20, 2019. This is the second time this season that he has earned this honour.
Williamson, a 6’5″ guard who played collegiately at St. Joseph’s University (Pa.), helped the Lightning earn two victories in three games this week. He averaged 21 points in those three matchups, including scoring 26 team-high points in a 119-113 overtime victory over the St. John’s Edge.
“Garrett was out for a little bit with an injury,” said Lightning coach Elliott Etherington. “He came back with a seamless transition, he made sure we were locked into a game plan. Proving himself to be one of the elite players in our league, Canadian or otherwise.”
