Final Volleyball Games of Season for St. Clair This Weekend
The St. Clair College women’s and men’s volleyball teams will be hosting their final regular season home games this weekend at the Sportsplex.
The women will be taking on College Boreal on Saturday at 12 noon. Boreal is currently 0-16 on the season. On Sunday the Saints women will host Cambrian College at 12 noon. The Golden Shield are 4-12 on the year. The St. Clair women are currently ranked 2nd in Ontario and 12th in Canada with a record of 13-3. The Saints have secured a home playoff berth and can secure 2nd place with a win on the weekend.
The men will also being taking on Boreal and Cambrian at 2 pm both days. The men are currently sitting in 8th place in the OCAA in the final playoff position. The Saints need to win one of their remaining two matches to lock up the spot.
Both teams will be honouring their graduating seniors on Sunday prior to the matches.
The Athletic Department will also be recognizing Saints men’s head coach Rob Lynch prior to the men’s match on Sunday. Lynch will be stepping down after the season. Lynch is finishing up his 10th season at St. Clair compiling a regular season record of 63-119 and a playoff record of 4-5. He led the Saints to their only OCAA medal ever in 2015 when St. Clair earned the Silver while hosting the OCAA Championship. The Saints ended up losing in the National Bronze Medal match that same season. Lynch was also a huge supporter of community events running several clinics and camps each season and also was a regular participant in the Windsor Goodfellows fundraising drive.
