St. Clair Names Gianni Ferri Men’s Soccer Head Coach

The St. Clair College Athletic Department has announced that Gianni Ferri is the new Varsity Men’s Soccer Head Coach. Gianni will be heading up both the fall outdoor and the winter indoor teams effective immediately.

Ferri is a former NCAA Division I soccer player at Michigan State. He has spent the last 7 months as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach with the Saints and has over 23 years of playing experience, along with 7 years of coaching experience. Gianni volunteered as coach for 6 years while he played, until officially taking on the Windsor TFC 09 boys team in 2023. He had a successful year with that team as they finished with a 27-3-1 record, including the league championship.

Ferri was born and raised in Windsor. He attended Holy Names before spending a year at Blyth Academy Private School in Toronto where he played for Toronto FC.

“I am incredibly honoured to be taking over as Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team here at St. Clair College. I’m excited to work with these young men on a daily basis and reciprocate the trust the school has put in me through success on and off the field. Together, we are going to work harder and smarter than ever before to create a culture that has a lasting impact” – Gianni Ferri, New Varsity Men’s Soccer Head Coach

Director of College Recreational Services Reid Innes is pleased to add Ferri to Saints Nation. “We’re very happy to name Gianni as our Head Coach. He’s excited for the challenge of building a Saints program that competes consistently at the highest levels. Gianni also appreciates the uniqueness of the student-athlete experience and recognizes the importance of fostering good citizens and graduates, not just high-level athletes and winning. We’re look forward to a successful future together.”

Ferri will be replacing Steve Vagnini who will continue to lead the women’s program. A huge thank you and appreciation to Coach Vagnini who took on a major workload heading both the women’s and men’s programs this past year.
