Generals Defeat Spitfires in Oshawa
Anthony Cirelli scored three goals and Jeremy Brodeur made 17 saves as the Oshawa Generals defeated the Windsor Spitfires 5-2 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa Sunday night.
A trio of players with Essex County connections all chipped in as the Generals (1-3-0) won their second game of the 2016-2017 Ontario Hockey League season.
Centre Jack Studnicka of Tecumseh scored a goal while left-winger Eric Henderson of Kingsville chipped in with three assists on the night. Left-winger Joe Machurek had a helper on Studnicka’s first period marker.
Renars Krastenbergs had the other goal of the game for the home team.
Cole Carter scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season while Logan Brown notched his first of the campaign as the Spitfires (3-2-0) turned in perhaps their most listless performance of the season while losing for the first time in three road games. Michael Dipietro made 28 saves in net for the Spits.
The Spitfires are now off until Thursday night when they host the Mississauga Steelheads at the WFCU Centre.
