Green Giants Continue Surprising Start

The St. Clair Green Giants hung on to improve to 8-2 Thursday night, with a 10-9 win over the Irish Hills Leprechauns.

Trailing 5-0 after 4 innings of play, the Green Giants began to chip away at the deficit, scoring 1 run in the the 5th and 4 in the 6th, to tie the game. After playing a scoreless 7th inning, St. Clair scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning to lead 10-5. Irish Hills countered with 2 in their half of the 8th inning and got the tying run into scoring position. Reliever Justin Culligan game up big striking out the final two Leprechaun batters to preserve the win. Conor Mckenna went 3-5 with a double, 2 runs and 2 RBI to bring his batting average up to .429 for the season.

Thursday’s win gives the Green Giants a four game winning streak and their second straight sweep. St. Clair will now have two nights off before they resume their road trip in Muskegon, MI Monday against the Clippers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
