St Clair Green Giants Recap July 21 2017 – GG Win Wild Game

The St. Clair Green Giants beat the Muskegon Clippers 10-9 in a wild 11 inning game Friday night. With the win the Green Giants improve to 19-13.

In what seemed to be a pitchers duel with a 3-1 score after 6 innings in favour of St. Clair things quickly changed. Muskegon scored 3 runs in the top of the 8th inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Green Giants replied scoring 4 runs of their own to regain the lead 7-4. In the 9th the Clippers scored 3 more runs to force extra innings. The Clippers looked to be closing in on a win when they took a 9-7 lead into the bottom of the 11th. The Green Giants continued to battle and with runners on second and third and 2 out, catcher Matt Deneau worked a full count before hitting a walk off 2 run single to left field.

Conor McKenna led the way offensively going 4-5 with a double, 3 runs, 1 RBI and a walk. Kevin Kyle got his first start of the season and pitched a solid 7.2 innings, giving up 4 runs and striking out 4.

The Green Giants will be back in action Saturday night at Lacasse Park when they try and complete the series sweep over the Clippers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm
