ISAIAH STEWART NAMED EASTERN CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The NBA announced today that Pistons center/forward Isaiah Stewart was named Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for games played in December.
Stewart, 24, recorded 28 blocks in December, 2.2 per game, and tied his career-high five blocks vs. Atlanta on December 1. He also grabbed a season-high-tying nine defensive rebounds vs. the Hawks. Stewart recorded two-or-more blocks eight times in the month and three-plus blocks five times. He was the only player on a nine-plus-win team for the month to average 2.0 blocks per game.
Stewart, 6’8”, 250, ranks third in the NBA this season with a career-high 2.03 blocks per game and is currently the only player under 7-feet averaging over 2.0 blocks. He leads the league in defended-field-goal percentage at the rim at 43% and has spearheaded the Pistons’ effort to a 110.6 defensive rating, second-best in the NBA and first in “stocks” (steals and blocks) with 16.3 per game.
The 16th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Stewart is in his sixth season with the Pistons. He recorded his 400th career block vs. Miami on January 1, 2026 becoming the 10th player in franchise history to record 400 blocks.
