Jamieson Golf Tour August 1 2019 – Ambassador Golf Club

The remnant fescue from the Windsor Championship made hitting fairways very important at the Jamieson Tour August 1 2019 stop at Ambassador Golf Club. Fortunately for the players, the wind remained somewhat dormant, and cooler temperatures made for a great day on the golf course.

In the Junior Girls’ Division, Jasmine Ly (Northern Illinois University/Roseland) took the crown, fresh off an incredible Sweet-Sixteen finish at the U.S. Junior Girls Amateur. Ly carded 5 birdies on route to nines of 36-34, and a one-under par 70. In second place was Kyla Charlebois (Pointe West), shooting an 81.

The Collegiate Womens’ Division was a tight race, but Nicole Cesca’s (Windsor Lancers) consistent play throughout the year earned her a win with an 81. Cesca used nines of 41-40 to best Melanie Burgess (Windsor Lancers/Roseland) by three shots.

The Junior Boys’ Division came down to the wire, with three players tied at 71, ready for a playoff if necessary. Aidan Webster (Willow Creek), Garret Day (Maple City), and Grant Baker (Kingsville) all toured the course in even par, but it was James Hill (Detroit Mercy/Essex) who emerged victorious after coming in with a one-under par 70. Hill’s round included 3 birdies and 2 bogeys, for nines of 34-36.

The Collegiate Mens’ Division required a playoff to determine a winner, after Blake Dell (Beach Grove/Ohio Wesleyan University) and Finn O’Brien (Willow Ridge) both fired 77’s in the morning. The two players both made routine pars on the par-4 first hole, but Dell’s par on the second hole bested O’Brien’s bogey and earned him the W. The two squared off in a sudden-death playoff earlier this year at Willow Ridge.

The Jamieson Tour ’s next stop will be at Erie Shores Golf and Country Club on August 9.
