Jason Benetti: The New Voice of Detroit Tigers

Highly esteemed sports announcer, Jason Benetti has officially joined the Detroit Tigers, taking up the mantle as the team’s television play-by-play announcer. Benetti, acclaimed for his astute narration in Major League Baseball, college football, and college basketball, shifts to the Tigers after an eight-season tenure with the Chicago White Sox.

Benetti’s reputation for superior storytelling, innovative thinking, and charismatic on-air persona made him a natural fit for the Tigers. He will work in unison with the Tigers, Bally Sports Detroit’s production staff, and his booth partners to deliver exciting and informative content to fans worldwide.

“I’m incredibly proud to join this historic and ascending Tigers franchise,” said Benetti.

He noted that his interactions during the interview process revealed why many respected professionals and creative minds have become part of the organization over the past few years.

Born and raised in the Midwest, Benetti understands the importance of sports in the region, particularly in the Motor City. In addition to his role with the Tigers, Benetti’s voice is also familiar to audiences beyond his home city or sport.

He calls games for FOX across several sports, including Major League Baseball, college football, and college basketball. He also serves as one of the radio voices for March Madness on Westwood One and leads the booth for MLB Sunday Leadoff on Peacock.

While juggling his national broadcasting duties, Benetti will commentate a minimum of 127 Tigers games each season. If scheduling conflicts arise, the Tigers will turn to long-time radio play-by-play voice Dan Dickerson.

Dickerson, who has previously filled in on television, agreed to this arrangement to ensure fans have the best broadcast experience possible throughout the season.
