Kingsville Kings Start Journey to Russell Cup

The Kingsville Kings start yet another journey towards the Russell Cup title this weekend as they take on the Toronto Attack

Kingsville will host the Attack in a best-of-five Greater Metro Junior ‘A’ Hockey League playoff series on Sunday at 3 p.m. A year ago the Kings made it all the way to the finals where they were beaten by the Tottenham Steam.

The series with the Attack continues Monday in Toronto at 7:45 p.m before the two clubs return to Kingsville on Friday. Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Games Four and Five, if necessary are Sat. Feb. 25 in Toronto and back in Kingsville on Sun. Feb. 26.

Kingsville posted a 29-8-0-5 during the regular season, including winning their last four. Toronto are coming into the series on a three game slide and went 22-19-0-0 overall.

During the season the two teams matched up twice with the Attack winning 5-4 in overtime back in November and then in December it was all Kingsville, 7-1.

The Kings will be lead by a trio of talented forwards who had at least 50 points. Winger Dan Leach 35-28-63, centre Tyler Garcia 34-26-60 and Maytas Kasek 24-27-51.
