Lancer Fastpitch headcoach Paul Scott has adds three to his coaching staff for the 2016-17 season.

Joining coach Scott in the dugout are former Lancer Stephanie Manson, Dan Russell and Don Hunt.

Manson first joined the Lancer fastpitch team as a student-athlete in 2008, and continued to play for the team for seven years through to 2014 while completing her undergrad degree in French Studies, and then law degree.

While playing on the Lancers Manson served as team captain from 2011-2014, and was a key contributor to the team’s two OIWFA provincial bronze medals in 2010 and 2014. She was also named the Lancer female varsity-club athlete of the year for two straight years in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

In 2013, Manson become the first student-athlete to be named to the Executive of the OIWFA in the role of Vice-President, and will continue in the role while coaching with the Blue & Gold.

I have been playing rep fastpitch for the past 12 years, and continue to play competitively.  I have also coached U16 and U18 rep fastpitch teams.

Professionally, Manson recently accepted a position with Legal Aid Ontario in Chatham practicing family and criminal law.

“I am thrilled to be returning to the Lancers and joining the new coaching staff,” said Manson. “I will strive to help give every student-athlete the same great Lancer experience I was so fortunate to have.”

Russell has been playing, coaching or umpiring baseball and softball since 1969.  An experienced coach, Russell has coached from Squirt to Midget level of ladies and men’s competitive fastball since 2000 in both British Columbia and Ontario.

A Windsor native, Russell has been a member of the RCMP since 1981, serving in both British Columbia and Ontario, while currently being stationed in Windsor.

Married with two children, Dan’s proudest moments have been watching his daughter Jillian play for Team Canada in the Pan American Games in Venezuela and in Jenny Finch’s last Team US game in Oklahoma City.

Russell has a passion for teaching and coaching fastball and continues to volunteer many hours to his LaSalle team.  He has coached teams to numerous National level competitions, Western Champions and numerous tournament medals.

“I am looking forward to building a team that has a reputation of being competitive, hard working women who will be leaders for the University of Windsor and the young ladies in our community,” said Russell.

Coach Hunt has coached softball, baseball and football for a number of years, and is currently a coach on the LaSalle Athletics 2002 Gold travel fastpitch team. He has been an executive board member of the Turtle Club baseball and softball organization for several years and currently serves as its Vice-President, House League.

An alumnus of the University of Windsor, Hunt has Bachelor of Commerce (Honours Business Administration and Economics) and Bachelor of Education degrees, and earned various academic awards, including the President’s and Dean’s Honour Rolls, and the Board of Governors Medal. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto.

Hunt is a local lawyer who has had a busy and successful law practice for 17 years. He is married to Tina, a local elementary school teacher, and has two children, Abby and Ethan.
