Windsor Lancers Claim Bronze at OUA Track & Field Championships
The nationally ranked Lancer track & field team captured two overall team bronze medals at the OUA championships this weekend in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
Claiming 17 individual medals overall, the Lancer women finished third overall with 117 points, while the men racked up 112 points to finish in the third spot on the podium.
On the women’s side, the Western Mustangs claimed the team gold with 194 points and the Guelph Gryphons were second with 141.5 points. On the men’s side, the Gryphons brought home the overall title with 156.5 points, and the Mustangs were second with 139 points.
FULL RESULTS
A.J. Stanat had two solid days of competition for the blue and gold, claiming two gold medals. The fourth year thrower opened the championship with a gold medal in the men’s weight throw with a toss of 17.48m. Then, on day two, Stanat broke his own Lancer record in the men’s shot put with a gold medal winning throw of 17.77m.
Senior Calen Keeling improved on his bronze medal performance from a year ago, with a gold medal winning height on day two of the championship. Keeling cleared 2.05m to place first in the event.
Owen MacNeill claimed the Lancer men’s final medal in the field events with a bronze medal leap of 14.44m in the men’s triple jump.
On the track, Ben Tilson claimed two gold medals for the blue and gold. Tilson edged out Alanzo Ryan from the Gryphons in the men’s 600m with a time of 1:18.49, and then anchored the men’s 4x 400m relay team to a first place finish. Ryan Holly, Mohamad Alkaaby, Noah Waldmann, and Tilson crossed the finish line with a time of 3:19.25.
Waldmann also won bronze with the 4 x 800m relay team, anchoring the team of Andrew Taylor, Abdiaziz Ali, and Noah Costa who finished the race in 7:40.22.
On the women’s side of the event, history was made in the women’s weight throw as Lancer senior Jordana Badley-Costello set a new OUA championship meet record. Her throw of 18.86m brought home the Lancers first medal of the day on day two of the competition.
Second year Lancer Mikalya May solidified herself in Lancer history with two spectacular performances at the championships. She kicked off the meet with a Lancer record breaking jump in the women’s long jump, leaping 6.13m to claim gold in the event.
The Lancers then claimed the one-two spots in the women’s triple jump. Graduate student Mandy Brunet won gold with a jump of 12.54m, while May placed second with a jump of 12.23m. Her silver medal jump lands her in the No. 10 spot on the Lancer all-time top ten list.
Grace Elford won silver in the women’s pole vault with a height of 3.95m, Jadyn Luna won bronze in the women’s shot put with a toss of 12.22m, and Riley Robitaille also brought home bronze in the women’s pentathlon with 3589 points.
On the track, Madelyn Eybergen won the women’s 3000m with a time of 9:25.69 to move her into the No. 2 spot on the Lancer all-time top ten.
The women’s 4 x 800m relay team of Nicole Seagris, Natalie Fortier, Ella Heredi, and Isabella Goveia claimed silver in the event with a time of 9:04.48, while the 4 x 400m team of Nadia Pupatello, Heredi, Maya Metivier, and Goveia won bronze with a time of 3:52.06.

The Lancers will now prepare for the U SPORTS track & field championships in two weeks time. Windsor will play host to the event March 6-8, 2025 at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
