Detroit begin preparation for the Lions Home Opener against the Tennessee Titans at the team’s headquarters and training facility in Allen Park.
Detroit hosts Tennessee at Ford Field in Week 2 in the Lions’ first home game of the 2016 season.
The Lions enter the home opener following a 39-35 Week 1 win over Indianapolis, while the Titans are coming off a loss to Minnesota, 25-16 .The Lions and Titans have squared off 11 times in the teams’ series history, with Tennessee holding the all-time edge, 8-3-0. In the last meeting on September 23, 2012, Tennessee defeated Detroit 44-41 in overtime at LP Field.

Detroit claimed the club’s 47th win on opening weekend by defeating the Indianapolis Colts 39-35 on the road. The Lions currently rank fourth among teams all-time for the most wins in Week 1 of the season. Detroit won for the fifth time in season openers over the past six seasons.
Detroit racked up 448 yards of total offense in the Lions’ season-opening win at Indianapolis. The team’s 448 total offensive yards were the fourth-most by the club to open the season since at least 1950. The offensive output also ranks as the second-highest total on the road since at least 1950, behind the Lions’ 494 yards gained at Los Angeles September 7, 1980.
The Lions’ running backs accounted for four of the team’s five touchdowns in the team’s 39-35 win at Indianapolis. Touchdowns were scored by RB Theo Riddick (2, 1 RecTD, 1 RuTD), RB Ameer Abdullah (1, 1 RecTD) and rookie RB Dwayne Washington (1, 1 RuTD). This was the first game in which Lions running backs scored four offensive touchdowns since Detroit’s backs registered four at Jacksonville on November 4, 2012.
With a passer rating 128.6 at Indianapolis, QB Matthew Stafford became the first Lions quarterback since at least 1950 to register a passer rating of 115.0+ in four consecutive games. He started where he left off the 2015 season as he finished with three-straight games featuring a passer rating over 115.0 (148.6 at NO, 118.6 vs. SF and 119.4 at Chi). At the time, Stafford became the second Lions quarterback to reach a 115.0+ passer rating in three straight games. In the Lions’ 39-35 win at Indianapolis, P Sam Martin tied the second-highest single-game net punting average (55.5) in NFL history since net punting became an official statistic in 1976 (minimum qualifier: 4 punts). Martin’s 55.5 net punting average also set a new team single-game record.

RB Theo Riddick opened the Lions scoring with a 21-yard touchdown run that capped off the game-opening drive. Riddick’s 21-yarder established a new career long rush, surpassing his previous best of 16 yards at St. Louis December 13, 2015.
Riddick surpassed 100 yards from scrimmage in a game for the first time in his career as he netted 108 total yards that set a new single-game career high for scrimmage yards (previous high: 86 yards vs. Oak 11/15/16). He also registered a career-high 45 yards on the ground (previous best: 28 yards vs. Chi 10/18/15) and 63 as a receiver.
With a 21-yard rushing touchdown and 13-yard receiving touchdown, Riddick registered his first career multi-touchdown game, as well as his first game with both a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Rookie RB Dwayne Washington scored on a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter in the Lions’ 39-35 win. Washington, a seventh-round draft selection, became the first Lions player who was acquired in the fourth round or later in the draft to score a rushing touchdown as a rookie in the season opening game since undrafted RB Lindy Pearson scored a 2-yard touchdown at Green Bay September 17, 1950.
