MIGGY BALL 24 DEBUTS IN DETROIT

2017 ROBERTO CLEMENTE AWARD

After successful runs in both Venezuela and Florida, the Miguel Cabrera Foundation is excited to finally bring Miggy Ball 24 to Detroit.

After three years in Miguel Cabrera’s home country of Venezuela, the innovative program moved to Florida. Miggy Ball 24 has now been held in Miami, Orlando and Tigers’ Spring Training home, Lakeland, and will finally make its debut in the Motor City this weekend.

The program will be held at the Corner Ballpark on Sunday, September 30th and Monday, October 1st in Detroit.

Miggy Ball 24 is an initiative of the Miguel Cabrera Foundation targeted for children six to ten years old, where kids are exposed to the five basic baseball tools in a recreational setting. Through its previous stops, more than 2,500 children have participated.

This is not a try-out, it is a recreational competition, where kids will display their abilities to throw, catch, hit to different parts of the field, power hit and run. During the qualifier rounds, children will be evaluated at five stations and 60 finalists will be selected to participate in the grand finale.

Two qualifier rounds will be held at the Corner Ballpark on Sunday, September 30th beginning at 9:00 am, then at 2:00 pm. The final event will take place on Monday, October 1st at 5:00 pm.

Monday’s final event will be highlighted by the attendance of Detroit Tigers MVP slugger Miguel Cabrera. All qualified players will have the opportunity to meet, spend time and learn from “Miggy”.
