2017 NHL ALL-STAR VOTING OPENS TODAY

The 2017 NHL All-Star  Voting opens worldwide today at 2 p.m. ET via NHL.com/vote and the NHL® App.

Fans will cast be able to cast their votes online for one player from each division, regardless of position, through 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 2. The top vote-getter from each division will be named an All-Star and captain. The remaining 40 All-Stars will be selected by NHL Hockey Operations.

McDAVID, LAINE FACE OFF IN WINNIPEG

Young stars Connor McDavid and Patrik Laine go head-to-head when the Oilers and Jets meet for the first time since the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic, a 3-0 victory by Edmonton. McDavid, who has 6-6—12 during a six-game point streak, leads the League with 11-20—31 in 23 outings this season. Laine, meanwhile, paces all rookies with 13 goals and 19 points in his first 25 career contests.

  • Flames goaltender Chad Johnson (39 SV) earned his third shutout in his past eight contests. He had four clean sheets in his first 106 NHL appearances
  • Penguins captain Sidney Crosby (0-2—2) posted his 100th point vs. NYI, his most against any opponent (31-69—100 in 57 GP)
  • The signing deadline for Group 2 free agents is today at 5 p.m. ET
  • The USA Hockey Hall of Fame inducted the 1996 United States World Cup-winning team as well as Bill Belisle and Craig Janney, while honoring Lester Patrick Trophy winners Mark Howe and Pat Kelly.
