NHL NEWS DEC 10 – FIRST CAREER GOALS POWER METROPOLITAN WIN STREAKS
Blue Jackets forward Lukas Sedlak (23 GP) and Capitals forward Jakub Vrana (5 GP) each scored their first career goal to help their respective teams extend winning streaks:
- Sedlak, a sixth-round selection (158th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, added an assist to lead the Blue Jackets to their fifth consecutive victory and a 6-0-1 mark in their last seven games. Columbus improved to 16-5-4 (36 points), continuing their best start to a season in franchise history in terms of wins and points.
- Vrana, a first-round selection (13th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft, scored the game-winning goal at 12:39 of the second period to guide the Capitals to their third consecutive win. Nicklas Backstrom (0-2—2) collected two assists and leads the club with 8-16—24 this season (26 GP).
- Blues goaltender Jake Allen (20 saves) improved to 9-1-0 in his last 10 appearances (2.16 GAA, .922 SV%)
- Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky (32 saves) improved to 5-0-1 in his last six appearances (1.48 GAA, .940 SV%), including four straight wins
- Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (1-0—1) has scored six times in his last six games (6-3—9)
- Sharks defenseman Brent Burns (1-0—1) has scored in three straight games (3-0—3) and leads all blueliners with 12 goals this season (27 GP)
- Devils forward Taylor Hall (0-1—1) skated in the 400th game of his NHL career and has collected 3-5—8 in his last four contests
- The Coyotes acquired center Peter Holland in a trade with the Maple Leafs for a conditional pick in the 2018 NHL Draft
- Forward Cal Clutterbuck agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Islanders
- The Red Wings observed a moment of silence for Jamie Daniels, son of team play-by-play broadcaster Ken Daniels
- The Blackhawks honored former forward Steve Larmer in a pre-game ceremony at United Center
- NHL and the Kings introduced a rendering of NHL Centennial-themed float that will debut in 128th Rose Parade in Pasadena on Jan. 2, 2017.
