NHL NEWS JAN 25 – MARLEAU NETS WINNER (AGAIN) IN SHARKS’ SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN

Patrick Marleau scored the game-winner with 4:33 remaining in regulation to lead the Sharks to their sixth straight victory, reclaiming the top spot in the Pacific Division (31-16-2, 64 points).

Marleau, who sits two goals shy of 500 in his NHL career, also scored the game-winning goal on Monday at COL when he matched an NHL record with four goals in a period.

Marleau’s game-winning goal was the 97th of his career, putting him in a tie with Jarome Iginla for ninth on the NHL’s all-time list, one back of Bobby Hull and Guy Lafleur who each have 98.

Brent Burns opened the scoring with his 21st goal of the season. Burns, who leads all defensemen and ranks fourth in the NHL with 21-30—51 this season, has found the score sheet in nine of his last 11 games (6-10—16).
