PACIORETTY HELPS CANADIENS SNAP THREE-GAME SLIDE
Max Pacioretty (2-1—3) factored on all three goals to help the Canadiens snap a three-game slide (0-1-2). Pacioretty has scored six times in his last six games dating to Jan. 4 (6-1—7) after netting eight goals in his first 40 contests of the season (8-13—21).

DUCKS EXTEND HOME WIN STREAK TO FOUR GAMES
Ryan Kesler scored the go-ahead goal with 7:39 remaining in regulation to propel the Ducks to a win over the Kings and a 6-1-1 mark in their last eight games at Honda Center, including four straight wins. Anaheim improved to 22-16-9 (53 points) overall and are now tied, in terms of points, with Los Angeles (24-17-5, 53 points) for fourth place in the tightly-contested Pacific Division standings, where positions Nos. 2-4 are separated by just one point.

Kings’ Brown Fined for Cross-Checking
Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown has been fined $10,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement via Section 18.7(d), for cross-checking Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Justin Schultz during NHL Game No. 704 in Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 18The incident occurred at 6:36 of the third period. Brown was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding.

Penguins’ Malkin Fined for Spearing
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement via Section 18.7(c), for spearing Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown during NHL Game No. 704 in Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 18. The incident occurred at 6:57 of the first period.

Long Time Montreal Journalist Red Fisher Dies
National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman today released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary Montreal sportswriter Red Fisher:

“For over 50 years, in his beloved Montreal, Red Fisher was unrivaled in hockey journalism – the authoritative English voice of news about the Canadiens and the National Hockey League,” Commissioner Bettman said. “Red had a remarkable passion for the sport and a remarkable compassion for the men who played it. Red’s words were important because nobody knew the game or the players or the executives better. In addition to being a master storyteller, on a personal level, he was a friend and counsellor. He was a monumental presence in our world and the NHL family grieves his passing. We send condolences to his family, friends and all who were touched by him.”

CORNER BROOK CELEBRATES HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA
The 18th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada – the country’s biggest single-day hockey celebration – will see all seven Canadian teams in action on Saturday across four games as part of a 12.5-hour marathon broadcast hosted live from Corner Brook, N.L. Ron MacLean will be on the ground to host the day’s festivities alongside several guests including Don Cherry and NHL alumni Wendel Clark, Lanny McDonald and Bryan Trottier. 

NHL TO RELEASE MID-SEASON DRAFT RANKINGS ON MONDAY
The NHL Central Scouting Bureau’s mid-season rankings for the 2018 NHL Draft will be released on Monday, January 22, at 11:00 a.m. ET.  The rankings, feature the top 217 skaters and 31 goaltenders in North America as well as the top 125 skaters and 15 goaltenders internationally.
