RANGERS RALLY FOR EIGHTH STRAIGHT HOME WIN
Jimmy Vesey (1-0—1) scored the game-tying goal at 5:05 of the third period before notching the decisive marker in the seventh round of the shootout to help the Rangers (13-9-2, 28 points) secure their fourth straight win overall and eighth consecutive victory at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers, who overcame deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before securing the win, have recorded their longest string of home victories since Oct. 19 – Nov. 23, 2015 (9-0-0) while also becoming the first team to register 10 home wins this season (10-4-2, 22 points).
Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves to extend his personal winning streak to four games, posting a 4-0-0 record with a 1.22 goals-against average, .960 save percentage and one shutout over those contests.
HURRICANES, OILERS SNAP OPPOSITION’S WIN STREAKS
The Hurricanes and Oilers both earned victories to halt their respective opponents’ win streaks.
Despite surrendering 1-0 and 3-2 leads, Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen both scored in the shootout to help the Hurricanes (10-8-4, 24 points) improve to 6-3-1 in their past 10 contests and snap Nashville’s four-game win streak.
Ryan Strome’s fourth goal of the season at 2:07 of the third period stood as the game-winner and helped the Oilers (9-13-2, 20 points) end the Bruins’ season high four-game win streak. Connor McDavid (10-20—30 in 24 GP) collected 0-2—2 to move into a tie with Blues forward Brayden Schenn (10-20—30) for sixth in League scoring.
